Riyadh, October 13, 2024, SPA — Speaker of the Shura Council Sheikh Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al Al-Sheikh will lead the Kingdom\u2019s delegation at the 149th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Geneva. The event will bring together hundreds of parliamentarians and representatives from various international organizations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In press remarks, Dr. Al-Sheikh emphasized that the Shura Council\u2019s participation reflects Saudi Arabia\u2019s commitment to contributing to international forums. He praised the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for their vision in strengthening the Kingdom\u2019s regional and international influence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He further highlighted the importance of parliamentary diplomacy, noting the Shura Council\u2019s pivotal role in addressing regional and global issues through various parliamentary activities and forums.
This year\u2019s assembly will focus on \u201cHarnessing Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI) for a More Peaceful and Sustainable Future,\u201d with discussions led by the Union\u2019s four permanent committees.
Additionally, Secretary General of the Shura Council Mohammed bin Dakhil Al-Mutairi will attend the meeting of National Parliaments\u2019 Secretaries, while other Council members will participate in the Standing Committees on UN Affairs, International Peace and Security, Democracy and Human Rights, and Sustainable Development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
