The Standing Committee on International Humanitarian Law of Saudi Arabia will participate in the 34th International Conference of the Red Cross and Red Crescent, taking place in Geneva, Switzerland, from October 28 to 31, 2024. This significant event will bring together 194 international organizations, associations, and bodies amidst evolving geopolitical landscapes.
Leading the high-level delegation will be Dr. Jalal Al-Awisi, Chairman of the Committee, along with Counselor Abdullah Al-Ruwaili, the Committee’s Secretary-General. Their participation includes an introductory exhibition at the Humanitarian Village, showcasing the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s efforts and achievements in implementing international humanitarian law.
Additionally, the Committee will host a symposium in collaboration with the Egyptian and Qatari National Committees, focusing on Arab initiatives to uphold, implement, and disseminate international humanitarian law. Secretary-General Counselor Abdullah Al-Ruwaili will represent the Committee during this event.
Through this engagement, the Standing Committee aims to strengthen international strategic partnerships to promote the culture of international humanitarian law. It also seeks to highlight Saudi Arabia’s contributions in global forums and collaborate with countries and humanitarian organizations on ongoing research in this crucial field, which has seen significant advancements. These efforts have played a vital role in raising awareness of international humanitarian law across civil and military sectors in the Kingdom and among various segments of society.
