Mr. Moustafa Shaikhon, Chairman of the General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE), in the presence of Major General Hany Rashad, Governor of Suez, witnessed the foundation stone laying ceremony for the project of “Jieya Egypt” Hygiene Products Company, a subsidiary of Tongling Jia Biotechnology Co., Ltd. The project aims to establish an industrial complex for sanitary products in the SCZONE Integrated Sokhna Zone, covering an area of 160,000 square meters within the new 2.86 km² expansion zone allocated to the industrial developer “TEDA Egypt.”

Investments for the “Jieya Egypt” complex stand at $67 million. The project will generate approximately 450 direct job opportunities and targets an annual production capacity of 8.1 billion units of single-use sanitary supplies, with production scheduled to begin within two years. The ceremony was attended by Mr. Cao Hui, Managing Director of TEDA Egypt, Mr. Yuan Xiangju, Vice President of Joyliwys, alongside several executive leaders from participating entities.

On the sidelines of the ceremony, Mr. Moustafa Shaikhon stated that the new project reflects the success of the partnership between SCZONE and its investment partners, marking a new chapter in the extended record of achievements with industrial developer “TEDA Egypt,” one of SCZONE’s strategic partners. He emphasized that the Authority works in an integrated manner with its partners to attract investments, localize industry, and transfer advanced technology, thereby supporting value chain integration across priority industrial and logistics sectors. He noted that the project comes in light of the deep-rooted strategic relations between Egypt and China, celebrating 70 years of diplomatic ties this year.

Furthermore, he explained that SCZONE continues to execute its strategic vision for comprehensive development across economic, social, and environmental dimensions, aligned with the Egyptian state’s vision. This is driven by its strategic location, ports, and industrial zones along the Mediterranean and Red Seas, as well as international free trade agreements providing access to over 3.5 billion consumers worldwide, alongside robust infrastructure, diverse energy sources, trained technical labor, and integrated incentives for investors.

The SCZONE Chairman also stressed that the Authority currently serves as a practical solution for investors to overcome ongoing geopolitical challenges by connecting manufacturing hubs directly to target markets. He affirmed that the Authority remains committed to providing all forms of support to its industrial developers and investors, building upon past achievements to reach further leaps in the coming phase.

In this context, Mr. Moustafa Shaikhon expressed his sincere gratitude to President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi for the trust bestowed upon him to lead the Suez Canal Economic Zone, and for the continuous support provided to SCZONE and its projects across ports and industrial zones. He reiterated his commitment to making every effort alongside SCZONE’s team to reinforce the political leadership’s trust and continue the development journey with the backing of state institutions, achieving a qualitative leap in industrial areas, seaports, and internal operational mechanisms.

He also expressed appreciation for Mr. Waleid Gamal El-Dien, former Chairman of SCZONE, for his dedicated efforts during his tenure, which witnessed numerous successes and overcame various challenges. Concluding his speech, he reaffirmed SCZONE’s constant readiness to support all investors—in both existing and under-construction projects—to overcome any obstacles and foster a favorable business environment.
